  • Bought a couple of these a long time ago...and have only had one, and didn't take any notes, so it must not have inspired. Cracking the last one tonight.....MAN have I missed something! Domestic Malbec isn't really sought after...but I've had some great ones from the likes of Chateau St. Jean, and Arrowood....but THIS wine is really saying something! I don't think they even exist anymore...and produced this juice from something like 2 acres of prime Oakville dirt....this 2002 Coya is dark inky purple in color; rich wildberry liqueur, vanilla mocha oak barrel, dusty graphite spice, charred cold smoked bbq meat, violet floral nose. Rich and oozing purple berry fruit...with a Malbec kick to it! Great density, yet intense with sour skin acidity, and dusty mocha oak barrel spice. Has a unique flavor of bbq meat soaked in banana skins...or something? Maybe tea leaves....KILLER dry dusty spices, espresso roasted meat, dried blueberries, florals galore. Really structured well....should have no prob with more age. Unique and tasty! Great wine.

  • Really enjoyed this. Great nose. Full bodied. Commented on how much we liked it several times during dinner.

  • TCF February 2006 Off-Line (Napa - Powell's): Served blind and I don’t recall anyone guessing the varietal correctly. I thought it was a South American Cab/Syrah blend.
