  • I was curious to find out if this would be another standard Aussie shiraz or if it would show me something different - perhaps my first clue should have been the stong heritage behind the name. On both the nose and the palate, the wine displayed the anticipated black fruit, pepper, and chocolate characteristics, but also provided intrigue with notes of herbs, smoke, and a touch of game. Every sip seemed to provide a different dimension. As it opened up throughout the night the fruit became even more up front and intense. With relatively low acidity the mouthfeel was silky and rich, making for an extremely sippable wine (maybe a little too much so!). Though not extraordinary, I feel it had a pleasing amount of complexity and certainly provided more enjoyment than I would have expected for $22! Definitely worth a try.

  • Nice fruity table wine. Not exceptional.
