Enjoyable Merlot, made in a sturdy style; more akin to Old than New World. In a blind, the lower acids would likely have given this away, but that would have been it. Nearly full-bodied, with impressive structure and purity of fruit. Medium+ length, lovely aromatics and commendable typicity. The 19 months in 300L Fr. oak (just 15% new) barrels added just the right touch of structure and sweetness of tannins - very well judged. Excellent value. Drink thru 2021, 14,3% abv.
PnP, served non-blind. I enjoyed this more on night two, as the wood was far more integrated.
