Community Tasting Notes (94) Avg Score: 91.6 points

  • Seems resolved and subtle, in a good way, though I wish that the subtlety was more evident in the mouth and the length, with both maybe expanded and drawn out some. Good brushy notes with some dried red fruit.

Open and accessible. Nose was ripe red fruits with a touch of cola --- there's always been this sense I've gotten with the Family Farm bottling, and sometimes Horseshoe, that reminds me of RRV --- not completely, just a bit. Little background hint of leather/funk on the Nose, too. Ripe, but medium-light weight on the palate; ripe red fruit/cola; not thick/overblown, but not crystalline, either. Gut impression score: 88 - 90. Drink Now and over the near term.

  • From a 500ml bottle. This bottle was purchased on release and professionally stored since. The wine had thrown some sediment, I don't know that I would have ID'd it as a pinot noir tasted blind. Drank it at a restaurant with a meal chicken dish & a salmon dish and it was OK as an accompaniment. There was decent balance and body to it and a pleasant oak note, but the most noticeable trait was a pruny character. This bottle was on the back end of it drinking window. I have several 750's and 'am hoping they are in better shape.

  • Vibrant fruit, red cherry and strawberry, ready to drink—expressive from the outset. No rush, but don’t think it will get much better. From a 500 ml bottle

  • took a while to get going but it was quite nice after about 1.5 hours in the decanter. some funk on the nose initially, but eventually blew off
