More often than not I enjoy Black Kite's Pinot Noirs, especially those from Anderson Valley. The style has varied quite a bit, but they generally land on the riper, more extracted side. This '12 River Turn might be the extreme example - it's in many ways like a Pinot Noir Port. Leads with sweetness, but it's not only that - has some fuzzy, savory characteristics, but like port, it seems mostly about the winemaking rather than anything that gives view into the site. Prominent alcohol burn on the throat (label says 15.2%). A misfire, but an interesting one!

I was really hoping time would help improve this, but, it is not a question of unwinding. I'm a huge fan of the winery, but, even the '11s were better.

Same as my first bottle. Syrupy, overly sweet.

Ultra ripe and sweet. You can smell the port like quality for miles. Sweet toothers will love it. Seems like a Zinfandel
