  • My last bottle, this one was a bit brighter and showed more of the mouthwatering acidity SB is known for, but the phenolics were still very much in the floral and herbaceous range with a characteristic Italian bittnerness on the finish. I bought this case as an aperitif originally, but ended up find it was far better with food on the whole. Also, a fair degree of bottle variation. Definitely the most interesting SB I've had even if it isn't my favourite.

  • Still very much showing Rhone-like qualities of fleshy yellow fruits, floral and herbal notes, and some soft nutty bitterness. I think the acidity is just starting to fade though the palate seems to be getting more intense. This balance is heading in a precaruous direction so these bottles may warrant some caution and require consumption before the end of the year. One more left, we shall see.

  • There were some richer citrus notes on this bottle - blood orange and pink grapefruit - along with the stone fruits and floral notes. These are starting to become a bit heavy. Not a lack of acidity, but very full bodied palate that can make it slightly awkward to pair with food. I asked friends to blind taste and most thought a southern Rhone blend. SB was the last thing anyone thought.

  • A wine that still continues to fascinate me. This particular bottle reminded me of something from the Rhone. Lots of stone fruits, particularly apricot and peach, with a warm nuttiness akin to fresh almonds. Background of wild herbs. On the palate this herbaceousness and bitter almond note really hits on the mid and back palate. On this occasion it quickly cut the fruit, but didn't lead to a long enough finish. Still very food friendly and good value for money.

  • Tasted at a free wine tasting of the winemaker at Radrizzani's in Milan. Round taste not typical of a sauvignon, really, but very intriguing and enticing .Hints of vanilla probably coming from the oak ageing and some smoky taste, stone fruits, with a bit of floral qualities, and an almond finish. Very pleasant
