  • My previous tasting notes still apply. A decent entry-level white with a striking contrast with quite full-bodied fruity character and bracingly high acidity. A bit simple and slightly lacking balance because of that racy acidity.

  • A blend Chardonnay (50-60%), Sauvignon Blanc (20-30%) and Pinot Gris.

Moderately deep yellow color. Ripe and juicy nose with some fruit candy character. The aromas are a bit on the reticent side with notes of currant leaves, peaches, some white currants, a little bit of grassy character and a hint of leesiness and a touch of melon. The wine is full-bodied, juicy and supple on the palate with remarkably high, sharp acidity, creating a stark contrast between the ripeness of the fruit and the acid brightness, which doesn't fit the fruit profile one bit. There are flavors of tart grapefruit, ripe lemon and some red apple with hints of grass and white currants. The finish is really crisp and lemony with medium-long flavors of steeliness, some unripe green apples, a little bit of grassiness and a hint of white currants.

I was surprised by this wine - I was expecting something simple, neutral and soft, but I was greeted by very Riesling-like acidity (and rather simple and neutral flavors). Although the high acidity makes this wine much more refreshing and versatile, it makes it also feel very odd and somewhat imbalanced. This kind of lemony acidity just doesn't fit with a wine that has this kind of ripe, full-bodied fruit profile. I suspect that there has been some very liberal acid corrections done during the winemaking, because the contrast is just so striking here. If you can get over that contrast between the ripe fruit and piercing acidity, this is overall a nice and drinkable little white, albeit quite a simple and one-dimensional at that. Feels somewhat overpriced at 11,50€.
