An eclectic night in Maryland (Potomac Maryland): Wow, thick black scarlet. Very aromatic dark berry, tart, gun flint flavors in a fairly tart package. Quite an achievement in south Texas, and quite a wine overall

Deep scarlet purple (the darkest dry red I've ever seen from Texas Hill Country) with just a hint of sediment. Fresh, ripe, dark fruit flavors, but finishes a bit tight. Wood well integrated. Shows it's Hill country flavors with some flint and gunpowder. Not a wine for everyone given it's very bright acidity; it is a remarkable achievement. This is not a fruit bomb Cali cab wannabe. It is a bone dry, thick, still nascent wine. As far as what to compare it to? Perhaps a savage young aliganico from Basilicata.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 decades of life for this wine given its dense bones and acidity, the 2005 gives no evidence of slowing down.
100% black Spanish (Lenoir) About 8 months in new oak 14.6% 53 Cases produced
