Summary: Soft and supple cherry and raspberry fruit with slight whole-cluster character (stemminess and bright carbonic fruit) and fair tannic grip. I could use a bit more acid, but otherwise this is charming. Score: around 8.5
-------------- Blind @ Delectable. I peeked and saw it was a Burgundy bottle.
Clear bright. medium - minus concentration red out to a red rim. Maybe some age? earthy, musty, dusty nose. Weird baked hamster bedding / papery earth. Possible stem notes. Slight candied cherry quality that suggests carbonic, which in combination with the stemmy notes would suggest whole-cluster. No signs of age on the nose. tight. baked red strawberries. Red cherries - fresh and ripe. Elevated alcohol - 13.5% (wrong - only 12.1%). Medium body, elevated acid, medium tannins - papery. slight stemmy quality and possibly used oak. (neutral French oak for 6 months). Slight reductive fruit.
The acid isn't high enough, and tannins are a bit strong, but I'm going to say: Warm climate pinot - Napa, 2011.
Actually: Idlewild, 2013 Dolcetto - CA > Mendocino > Fox Hill Vineyard 6 months in neutral French oak. 1/3 whole-cluster, 2/3 destemmed and crushed.

7% Solution, SF 2015 (SF): Neutral oak, full malo. Moderate minus ruby, Moderate minus concentration. N: Smelling a bit of stemminess. Ripe cherry, hints of oxidative warm round notes (not oxidized, just in that direction). Maybe this is whole-cluster character? P: A bit woody, maybe stems? It’s grippy, good, ripe, has a bit of a punch of elevated acidity, though the tannins have the final say. Nice! Between 8.5 and 9

A smoother Dolcetto than the few that I've had from the Piedmont. Less rustic, to me. Well done!
