interesting combination(or hybrid) of sauvignon blanc and pinot gris. colour is close to sauvignon blanc, slightly gold, a little leg and oily. nose is similar to sauvignon blanc as well, slightly pungent tropical and grassy aromas, fresh. mild and moderate flavours, stewed pear, a little alcohol warming, sweet in middle but watery in finish.
it seems going midway between the two varieties, pure and fresh, but lacks multiple layers and still simple.
IWSC Tasting with Jo Burzynska (Glengarry Victoria Park, Auckland): clear pale straw. fresh grapefruit and pear, zesty, sweet, beautiful summer drink. easy and pleased. an enjoyable and interesting variety (clonal-mutation of sauvignon blanc), now it is under expectation in Marlborough to be the next successful commercial wine variety, as some key markets (Aus, UK) started to complain about boringness of Marlborough S.B.
