  • A fuller old school IPA less the modern and bright but every bit full of depth of flavour and with an old school brought to modernity feel. Very good

  • The colour is orangeish and reddish, at least in the light in which I'm seeing it, which is unusual for an IPA. Very cloudy, which is normal. After careful pouring, there is no head. Some bubbles at the to, but not a lot. On the nose, the smell of hops does not dominate; a nondescript fresh ale smell comes through, with a little orange, a little lemon and a little pine, but not nearly as much pine as an Orval. On the palate, complex for an IPA; the hop flavour is prominent, and definitely stronger than other flavours. But not as overpowering as in other IPAs. Flavours include pine and a hint of gin. Completely dry. One of the better IPAs I've had, though I'm not a huge fan of IPAs; I generally prefer more balanced ales in which hop flavour does not overpower other flavours. $5. Overall value: 3 stars of 5. Overall impression: very good.
