The nose was extroverted and exotic with sweet florals and spice giving way to ripe pineapple, mango and a hints of vanilla. On the palate, I found a soft expression with ripe mango and pear, yet lifted by zesty lime citrus in an ultimately lively expression. The finish was long and spicy as minerals came forward to balance the wines ripe citrus-infused tropical fruit. The Batard comes across and quite enjoyable to drink but far more forward and tropical than expected and reminding me more of a full-throttle Austrian wine that white Burgundy.

Honeycomb, browned multigrain toast with almond butter, a day old grilled plain eggo. A dried apricot flavored macadamia nut for a moment. Then a cotton powdery candy-ish everlasting finish.
The end of a great wedding and the beginning of a fantastic honeymoon. Ironically, “I do” shall reign supreme with the batard.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Classically young Bâtard to me with alluring ripe and fat fruit, some baking spice and soft structure to start that firms up near the end. Give this a few years for everything to integrate, and I think this has 93-94 point potential.

2016 La Paulee San Francisco - Saturday Grand Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco): Wow. Starts with nice depth, then continues to build intensity slowly, everything perfectly in place, simply fabulous. I wrote this before I knew there are only 50 cases made. I went back multiple times to taste this.
