Too bad this had to follow the 2007 Ridge Essence, because whatever story this might have had to tell, just got lost in the wake of the Ridge's tale. Probably best to drink this now, it's not holding too much in reserve. A shimmering gold, this offers an open-knit, fruity and sweet nose that, like the palate, just seems too simple to me. Light>medium-bodied, great acids, simple fruit/finish. Nice, but not something I'd be interested to have again, save another vintage, perhaps. 11,2% abv.
Served double-blind.

BListeringly acidic and fat with sweetness, the palate is orangey and creamy, like a dreamsicle. Getting some copper tone to the color and a bit of dusty sediment but none the worse for wear, this will last some time but won't get better.

I recall tasting this blind some years ago and thinking it was Tokaji and today I'll stand by that comparison. It has a deep, rich, orange-apricot, tropical flower nose, accented by fennel Mukwha. The tangerine really comes through on the palate so I guess the grape is obvious, but despite 11% ABV and 16% RS, the acidity is brilliant and shimmering so there must be a dose of tartaric acid giving life here. Either way, it's delightful nectar, not cloying, and a great after dinner drink for me.

Kinda one dimensional. No acid balance. Though good but a little cloying. Nice deep gold color.

Much better than I expected. High acid, full throttle sweetness. Years from maturity. Wish I had a few more to see what complexity might emerge.
