Deet, ripasso, and, occasionally, cantaloupe on the nose. Blackberry, roasted savory and thyme, and perhaps a little bit of grenadine. More impressive than enjoyable, which may be my way of saying, perhaps to my eternal ignominy, that after 4 days in a stopped decanter, I'd prefer these fine tannins to gtfo. For 1D power, I might stick with durif A few bottles left at the Somerville SavMor for $18. Might be interesting to hold significantly longer than anyone here's projected for any of the listed vintages

Another bottle... just as good as the one from last year. Very likeable. Bright acid in a very pleasant style, with dark fruit. Tannins still going strong. Neither sour nor bitter, with modest components of each. Still not near the end of its drinking window.

Surprisingly likeable. Nice balance of fruit, acid & tannins with some spice and mineral. Ready to drink at 5 - 6 years. Reminiscent of wines I've had at good Sicilian restaurants, which go very well with Sicilian food. The 2012 may not be available any more but I see the 2014 for $20, with pro scores of 93 - worth getting more.

First drinking if this wine, was buried behind others. Found it to be very delightful. Nice dark fruits, light spice and full body.

Nicely aged Nero D’Avola. Dark fruit, some tobacco, licorice and a slight touch of oak. Very enjoyable and quite complex. Went well with spicy pasta.
