A special version of Fuller's Golden Pride, hopped with Goldings, from England, for bitterness and Liberty and Cascade, from the US, for dry hopping. 8,5% alcohol. Best by December 31st, 2024.
Deep reddish-copper color with a modest, tan head. Rich, sweetish nose with aromas of caramel, dried red fruits, some orange marmalade tones and something old and moldy that feels more prominently on the palate. Undrinkable.
The bottle was kept in a cool space where it smelled of mold and apparently the smell has penetrated the crown cap and ruined the beer in the process. A shame.

Beautiful, clear coppery red color with a moderately big, tan head. Quite sweet and malt-driven nose with a bit restrained aromas of bready malt dark syrup, some grassy hop character, light honeyed notes and hints of woody character. The beer is juicy and somewhat spicy with very balanced, malt-driven and rather dry flavors of grainy and slightly toasty malt, baking spice, a little bit of red fruits and a hint of caramel character. Both the hop bitterness and the carbonation feel rather low, as is expected of a British ale. The finish is moderately bitter with some alcohol warmth and quite long flavors of caramel malts, some spicy character, a little bit of bready character and a hint of honey.
A pretty classic iteration of Vintage Ale. This is pretty much a British strong ale at its best - the depth of flavor and the balance are just astounding here. Not cheap stuff at 8,89€ for a half-liter bottle, but delivers for the price.
