  • Fruit was fading in this bottle, with the structure dominating. Wish I had opened it a couple of years ago.

  • No notes as I was cooking and serving but this wine was still singing, paired very nicely with a roasted turkey.

  • Wow, this is fantastic.  Darker in color than the 10 Mataro with zero of the slight bricking that the Mataro had.  Much more explosive on the nose, with beautiful spicy red fruit that filled the room as i coravind a pour (love when that happens).  This is delicious on the palate.  Medium bodied with waves of fresh red fruits and plenty of acidity.  Very similar mouthfeel as the Mataro (clean but 'fleshy'), but more fresh and less savory than the Mataro.  Also has a slight tannic bite on the end, which combined with the ample acidity, makes me think this one can probably age longer.....but absolutely no harm in drinking now if you have one, as it's in an awesome spot.

Love me some Sandlands.  Great wines at super fair prices......and its amazing that there's only 1 release per year.  Just wish there was more to go around at said release

  • Darker color than I expected. Spices and dark and red fruits and a little gasoline on nose. Palate is big red fruit, hints of pepper and spice. Hint of green olive on finish. Medium body and medium finish. Very smooth mouthfeel. Like Pinot Noir and Syrah had a love child. Very nice and easy drinking, but not spectacular.

  • Consumed over two nights. Ready to drink thought it could go a few more years.
