  • 100% Pinot Noir from Polisy, but the label really doesn't talk about the wine being Blanc de Noirs. NV, but is actually vintage 2010.

Luminous pale straw yellow color. Attractive, fragrant nose with aromas of honey, some oatmeal cookies and a hint of fresh citrus fruit. The wine feels quite substantial and full-bodied on the palate, yet remarkably weightless and focused with crisp acidity. There are dry flavors of fresh citrus fruits, some bready autolysis and a hint of bruised apple, even apple core. The mousse is very rich and lively, but more fine than aggressive. The finish is long and crisp with delicate, mouth-cleansing flavors of sharp citrus fruits, stony minerality, some green apples and a hint of crunchy red-toned fruit. A bright and refreshing aftertaste lingers on in the mouth for quite a while.

A surprisingly nuanced and broad NV Blanc de Noirs, which isn't your typical, burly and muscular BdN, but more delicate and bright. There wine is more sinewy and precise than ripe and brooding. Pretty attractive an effort right now, but I can imagine the wine will develop more nutty complexity if left to age in a cellar for at least a few years. Very nice.
