A ripe and rustic Pinot that never quite delivers more than brute strength. Purple in color, full in body, nose of black cherry and cedar. Tastes of boysenberry, cough syrup, tree bark, and green stems, with a grainy and chalky finish. 14.7% alcohol. Maybe this needs more time, but this is quite disjointed at the moment. Although I don't typically agree with Parker and Laube on Pinot, they were right on this one - and CA Connoisseur's Guide was really, really wrong. Give it a year or two, and hope for the best.
