Some blind wines (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Magenta in colour. Quite smoky on the nose, with some really sweet and brambly dark fruit. The palate is similarly sweet, and shows some signs of overripeness and stewiness. Lots and lots of heat from the alcohol here. The oak is not particularly overt, and there's a touch of acidity here. Made in that anonymous international style. No idea what this could be.

Dark ruby red. The nose reveal great cherries aroma, with also little amount of spices. In the mouth is very fruited, crispy and fragrant, not so complex but really enjoyable. Sweet tannins and good persistency

Paired this with eggplant parm at a dinner party. Pitted it against a 2011 Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in a blind tasting. This wine was good, but the Vino Nobile was the clear winner. Of course, the VN was 50% more expensive. Maybe this will develop more complexity and a longer finish with more bottle age?

Piacevolmente fruttato. Ciliegia e sottobosco. Corpo medio ma lunghezza buona. Non particolarmente strutturato ma buono. Rapporto q/p ottimo.
