Decanted for 15 minutes which allowed the wine to open and integrate. The color was a clear medium ruby - maybe a bit lighter than other Martinelli Zins. Notes of red fruits and spice on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed lots of red fruits and spice, along with some darker red fruits and earth. The acidity was balancing, any tannins completely integrated, and no obvious presence of the 17.3% abv. Hard to say how much longer this wine can hold, but enjoying by year's end should be favorable.

Served with spaghetti and meatballs. Deep purple color, brambly on the palate, loads of fruit, minor notes of vanilla, easy finishing wine. The fruitiness, polish, and structure of the wine enable it to carry its high ABV.

While still quite young, this was utterly delicious. Very hedonistic. Fine and dusty tannins, cherries, plums, and a touch of mushrooms, cola, and Asian Spices. Amazingly, the very high alcohol is not detectable or noticeable anywhere but on the label (and on one's head after having a couple of glasses!) This is a wine that I did not expect to like this much. Glad I overcame my reticence about this bottle (mostly driven by the noted alcohol level in the label) and jumped in. One of the most enjoyable zins I have had in a while.

Such a gorgeous looking wine. I’m drinking this in lieu of a cocktail tonight and at 17.3% it delivers.

Both of my bottles of this one have been good, but not worth what I paid for them.
