A wine from two vineyards, planted in 1994 and 1997. The wine is vinified in small plots, with the more delicate wines age full 12 months in stainless steel, while the richer wines age 7 months in barriques and 5 months in stainless steel. Aged for a further 12 months after bottling.
Pale green color. A bit understated aromas of whitecurrant, some smoke, a little cream and a hint of spicy wood. Rich and full-bodied in the mouth with soft texture and rather modest acidity for a Sauvignon Blanc. Rather simple and one-dimensional flavors of cream, ripe apple, some spicy wood and a hint of grassy greenness. Soft and smooth finish with rich, ripe fruit, very pronounced steely minerality and a little creamy oak. The acidity shows a little more towards the finish.
An OK effort for a Fumé-style Sauvignon Blanc, but a bit simple and too soft to be anything taken seriously. Stylistically not my thing - I dislike both oak and SB - and the wine is wanting in structure and complexity. Feels quite overpriced at 18€.
