Blinds at Jason Mark III(?): My bottle, so not blind. This is in the zone - notes of aloe, with clean acidity and a precise finish. This has sufficient body and roundness to make most guess Meursault, though just shows that Carillon did really well in 2013. Doesn't quite have the depth to be a grand cru, which its not. Not at risk of a downturn, but these are great now.

Fun flight of 88, 93, 99 & 2013. 1988: The 88 was still incredibly youthful, in fact so much so that it took quite a while to open up. There is still much upside left for these. 1993: The definition of a "wine in the zone". Perfect in every way, and all you could ask for from this wine. Fantastic, and easily WOTF. 1999: There was a touch of something (let's call it funk vs oxidation) on this bottle. With time though, it really came around (at least for me), and I liked it a lot, particularly with food. 2013: One youngster in the flight, and while maybe not a rock-star, this is a very enjoyable vintage of Carillon Referts. I liked it.

Nose of green apple, hint of acacia flower…the most mineral of the Carillon line-up, green apple almost bitter, very high acidity finish, a bit too much acidity to my taste

in a magical place right now. Complex, generous with so many nooks and crannies. Long and persistent.
