Dark appearance for brunello: Med-dark garnet Very complex aromas of earth, leather, dark sour cherry, licorice. Well knit structure and fruit balance. Tannins and acidity are typical brunello. Medium duration of aftertaste. The wine can last for several more years as this wine has good balanced level of fruit, tannins and acid. Tasted over two days. Second day better: more animalistic character, in a good-large slavonian oak way.

Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium intensity, no brett this time, aromas of earth, hint of mushrooms, leather, and sour red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), rounded medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe dark red cherries, sour red cherries, earth, smoky meat, leather, warm spice. Long finish. Very good quality. Textbook Brunello. Ripe vintage nicely done.

Learn my lesson and decanted for 5.5 hours. Smoothed out the tannins and gave it a lovely balance.

It was pretty wild and intense. Certainly not balanced or elegant, but not bad either. Earthy and musky, a lot better with food than without.
