  • Bit of an odd one. Decanted for sediment. Started out thin and seemed too far gone to enjoy. Still had some of that funky old nose that can deliver intrigue and interest but the palate was awfully bland. Started drinking with dinner and it just didn't have the stuffing to match any food. About an hour after it was decanted, it sprung back to life. Got darker, tasted fuller. Richer fruits all of a sudden. But not really balanced - boozy and harsh. We finished it and it provided some thoughtful sips, but all in all it was probably better drunk 5-10 years ago.

  • Popped and poured. Moderate red-garnet color with some browning at the rim. Very complex and balanced nose of red cherries, garrique, sage, flowers, tobacco, leather, something tangy. Equally balanced - I'm tempted to say elegant - on the palate as well with loads of ripe fruit and good acidity. This is no powerhouse CdP, rather it's almost Burgundian in its poise. Simply lovely. Made a great compliment to Cassoulet de Toulouse.

  • Great bottle of CDP which is drinking great. NIce peppery taste. Big wine. Went fantastic with great rib-eye steak.
