Drinking well, and may be at its peak. Tannins are there, but take a back seat to the fruit. Smooth and delicious, it’s truly expressive of what Cabernet is meant to be. Will enjoy our last three bottles over the next year.

Flavors starting to come together on this. We drank this bottle after two powerhouse Napa Cabs, so by comparison it was a bit light, but smooth and enjoyable throughout. Two hours after dinne, it’s bright and approachable. Tannins are there, but not over bearing. Have hopes that this continues to develop and evolve.

Get-Together with Friends (Santa Rosa): Served as a horizontal trio of 2011 Hawkes Cabernets, to include the Red Winery, Stone Vineyard, and Pyramid Vineyard. This was in the middle for me in terms of preference. It has some decent flavors on the initial attack, but was light and thin on the back end. A little of a licorice/anise note that added interest, but faded quickly. 86-87 points.

Anise, cassis, oak, some red fruit on the nose. Palate is soft and light across the tongue with a bit of nuanced fruit. Nice acidity. Medium length finish.
Day 2: Nose is largely unchanged. Firmer palate. More fruit and depth. This still has some good years ahead of it.

This bottle consistent with February note. Still noticeable anise throughout. A bit darker fruit through the finish. Nice for a 2011.
