Medium garnet color with bricking. Nose opens with some barnyard and some smokiness. Not that bad, but not that great. Some fruit (cherry or some red fruit) trying to express itself through the little remaining tannin. Note the St Francis regular and reserve Merlots were outstanding when I drank them around 10-15 years ago. I vaguely recall having a bottle of this around 1990 and it was far supplier. 1 Hour later - Actually improved after being opened for an hour. Sour cherry flavors have formed and the finish is smoother. Does not hold a candle to the outstanding 1997 St Francis Reserve Merlot we are drinking side by side.

With MPL, BLR, Donna, Gary and Marne at the LWB. Deep ruby color. Great nose of cocoa, cinnamon. Plenty of fruit. In the mouth, intense, spicy, good berry fruit. Very concentrated. Fine bottle. Really intense palate. 5-12-16-8: 91/100
