  • Red and black cassis, black cherry, blueberry, cedar, sandalwood, and vanilla. Viscous and plush. I've always enjoyed the texture of Fairchild wines - full in the mouth but soft and gentle. The longer you air it, the more refined it becomes.

  • Decanted for four hours before the first sip. This was an awesome cabernet sauvignon. The fruit, spice and wood notes were so beautifully wrapped around silky tannins. Glad that I have some more bottles of this juice resting in the cellar....

  • Really expressive nose with earthy notes, blueberry pie, cedar, mix of brooding and bright fruit, subtle hints of tobacco, mulberry, pepper on the mid palate. It has the characteristic of plushness and silkiness that is the trademark of beckstoffer vineyards. The finish is super long and decadent. 97+

  • This earthy and open-knit Las Piedras Cabernet is quite enjoyable, but it lacks the intensity or depth that I hope for in an LPV wine from this vintage (and at this price point!). It's tasty at the moment, but - I agree with #1Winelover - I don't think it's worth it, especially after a few hours of air.

Dark purple in color and medium in body, the wine offers aromas of blackberry, crushed rock, warm herbs, and graphite. Tastes of blueberry, menthol, fresh leather, and crushed pine cone, with a grainy and pleasant finish. 14.5% alcohol. No rush on drinking, since this is what it is for the next 3-5 years, I think.

My first Fairchild wine, this seems to fall on the more restrained end of the LPV spectrum. It doesn't have the ripeness or intensity of, say, a Carter or Fait-Main (where my heart lies), and it instead seems more like a Hobbs or Alpha Omega - more dirt, less fruit. To each his own, of course, but - every once and a while - it's kind of relieving to find an expensive wine I don't want to buy again!

  • Consistent with past tastings, this wine benefits from a longer decant and then sings. Rich, still a bit brooding, with nicely layered mineral flavors and hint of herbs. It also seemed to show better when slightly cooler. I took it out of the cellar (in the decanter for hours first) at 58ish. Seemed best before it warmed all the way to room temp of 70.

    Very enjoyable, excellent juice.
