lavender, vanilla, anise, dark berries, blackberry, licorice. The most powerful and in your face flavor forward of the trio. Alcohol is felt at 15.3, but everything is full throttled with this wine.

This is certainly not a subtle pinot noir and will most definitely be polarizing at this stage of its development. Rich, dense, almost chewy in texture. Mouthful of deeply concentrated but very plush fruit. This would go fantastic with duck or a double cut pork chop.

OK. I had other bottles of Aubert and found them leaner and better integrated. Decanted 2 hours. This wine has a pretty red fruit nose, lots of sweetness (oak), spices. Good mid-palate weight, but somehow not balanced. Medium acidity and very high alcohol did not do it for me. Good fruit concentration and persistence, not much complexity. A bit disappointing. Maybe better on day 2?

The best way to describe this wine is where it sits on the spectrum between full-on Cali Pinots, such as Peter Michael and the more Burgundian wines of producers such as Domaine Drouhin. This wine is very definitely closer to the Peter Michael end of the spectrum and as such my score reflects my dislike for this style of Pinot. I find the extraction overdone. It is pretty full-on, sweet and rich. Hoisin is sure sign of this style for me. The fruit is damson and cherry. The acidity is medium, as are the tannins, which are ripe and fine. Long and moderate complexity.
There is no real diminution of the fruit at this stage - it would be interesting to see what it will be like in another 10 years.

Burgundy color with a bouquet and flavor of raspberry, dark cherry, earth, and allspice. Very good depth and balance with a long finish. Lovely wine. Drunk on Blue Mountain Beach during Hurricane Sally. Fortunately we were just on the edge of the storm.
