Delicious. Beautifully balanced. Stands on its own (normally a blended grape). Great with light food. Nice spicy mineral backbone. Warning: potentially addicting.

Beautifully crafted version of a grape rarely bottled on its own. This is not an attempt to make a massive, ageworthy Americanized version of Chateauneuf du Pape (in some of which wines Counoise has a supporting role). In the glass transparent red with red fruited perfume, pomegranate, and some spice. On the palate quite refreshing without being a featherweight, with sour cherry and pleasing tannins present. This is a winner. I prefer this Rhone varietal to some of the Cinsault I've tried recently.

I've enjoyed all the Frick wines I've tasted, but the 2012 counoise is a truly fantastic effort. Incredibly rich and complex nose of deep red fruits, spice, forest floor, and potpourri. Layered, mouth drenching palate with more of the same, and a long, spice driven finish. QPR, this is as good as it gets.

Delicious. Light on its feet, elegant, easy drinker. Perfect pairing for Thanksgiving dinner.
