  • 2004 CHATEAU MONTVIEL POMEROL- tasted blind; this wine took first in a fight of 6 and for a good reason; it was beautifully balanced offering up front ripe and fresh black fruit with accents of liquorice, toast and minerals; it had medium weight and a soft mouthfeel gliding over the palate to the back end proving extended pleasure.

  • Chateau Montviel 2014 Kosher cuvée.
This one was still closed even after a few hours of decanting, but already showing a clean and pure fruit.
Palate is quite precise, fresh and elegant.
will be interesting to watch this one evolve.

  • Kosher version. Nice floral and fruity nose. Violet garnet colored.Medium bodied. Fruity and delicate wine with optimal ripeness (13.5%). Oak in balance. Medium acidity. Medium intensity on the mid palate. The mid palate is persistant enough but (right now) one dimensioned in complexity, fresh red fruits and acid only. Moderate finish with mouth coating and powdery tannins

  • Château Montviel, Pomerol, 2014: Deep purple towards garnet in color. On the nose, raspberries, blackberries, violets, with a hint of earth and toasty oak. Medium, perhaps medium to full-bodied, with a supple texture showing great purity of fruit. On the palate, good yet not overly-extracted, with at this stage red berries at the front along with graphite and a very subtle note of earth underneath the fruit. The mid-palate shows some vegetal notes such as foliage and tobacco, medium-plus acidity, fine grained and powdery tannins highlighting notes of thyme and freshly brewed coffee on the long and elegant finish. This wine was decanted for more than 6 hours. It is otherwise not approachable yet. Drink 2020-2026, perhaps longer. 13.5% Abv.
