  • Opened for an hour before pouring. Soft, completely integrated tannins; medium body. Lovely-red fruit, reminiscent of some St. Emilions I've had.Mature but still vibrant, and I am sorry that this is the last of three bottle. Drinking beautifully, but could probably go another coupla-three years.

  • An outstanding Cabernet Franc; the grape really seems to flourish in the Hungarian soils under cultivation by Takler, which apparently imparts body and complexity I don't find in other terroir where the grape is planted and bottled as a straight varietal. This is quite serviceable as a pop n' pour, bright and red-fruit forward, though there are some sharp notes that recede after an hour or so. I would recommending letting it breathe for an hour or so before consumption. Remains a very good QPR at $25.

  • A well made wine, elegant, ready to drink, and a good QPR at $25. I haven't had a straight cabernet franc in years but have previously found wine made solely from this varietal to lack dimension, specifically, lacking a sort of viscous quality and a depth of flavor. This Takler is rich and bright, but I still want a little something extra from it. Maybe I'll come closer to figuring out what that is on my next bottle.

  • Respi-Aerate to decanter, let stand 60 min, then back into bottle for later tasting. Color dark red loaded with purple hues, full body. Dense, complex bouquet of fresh dark berries, cherries, diffuse violets, walnuts, a bit of coffee grounds, and damp earth. In the mouth, lush layered dark cherries, plums, beautiful perfume of violets, stone ground chocolate, savory nuts, minerals and rich earth. Incredible velvety smooth texture, medium acid, medium-plus tannins fully integrated. Very long finish. Four hours later, I prefer this even more because the exuberance of the fruit has tamed and it shows more secondary notes. Overall, a great wine that made me happy I opened it now because it was so delicious, but also sad because it was my only bottle and easy to conceive of it reaching greater heights in a few years. At $60 it's a splurge, but very well made and a unique drinking experience that delivers far beyond its cost.
