NobleRottersSydney - Single Vineyards (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {cork, 13%} {Graeme} Inaugural vintage of this special, ancient vine cuvee (oldest Marsanne vines in the world?). Sadly, I watched this steadily turn darker in the cellar from the moment I bought it. Sure enough, the solid gold colour precedes a palate which is sherried and nutty, pithy and sweaty. There is still some acid here, and it’s the shell of a great wine. But only the shell; the rest has to be up to your imagination. Thanks, cork.

An interesting and pleasing wine. Drinking Tahbilk Marsanne in its widely-available young and boring format seems such a waste. This museum wine is better value.

Glowing gold in colour, the nose appeared to carry a slight whiff of TCA. Nevermind, both the nose and flavour of the wine were strong enough to pierce through. Power and poise, honeysuckle with gentle acidity. Lovely, probably at the peak of its drinking window.
