Nose of pear, baby powder, and white flowers. Palate shows a sweet, fresh pear flavour, with notes of chalk and lemon. Good texture: medium-to-full body, slightly oily, with a hint of tannin.

Ara 'Single Vineyard' Pinot Gris 2014. Marlborough, New Zealand. Bought 2015, Waitrose UK, £10.99 promo price. Tasted May 2015. Chilled.
My label here in the UK says 'Single Vineyard', and I have to assume it is same as the 'Single Estate' label used in NZ. Ara also produce a more expensive 'Select Block' range.
Almost no colour at all, plus it's pretty much mute on the nose too. In the mouth, however, it kicks off: lovely thrilling acidity, clean fruit - but plenty of it, ripe peaches, white stone fruit, pears. Their notes mention 'honey,' but I couldn't find it. It is not a full and rich, lush style. It has medium-heavy body, though, and plenty of charm. It finishes dry, after all that mid-palate fruit. Well done Ara, for just £10.99! Warning: it is a high alc white wine, 13% ! Maybe not ideal for a light lunch before returning to work in the office. zzzz.....
(Tasted it again 2 hrs later, still chilled: slightly fuller and longer, a bit richer. Fruit again very good.) Marked Silver+
