Napa Visit 2016; 7/10/2016-7/13/2016: not my thing, but smooth up front with a sharp piercing back end that I didn't like. Nice fruit profile on the nose. Others loved this wine.

Sourced from Beckstoffer's Melrose Vineyard in Rutherford, this opaque crimson wine is rich and opulent. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec and 20% Syrah, it flaunts aromas and flavors of dark bramble fruits, cocoa, tarragon, loamy earth and vanilla. Despite being smoothly textured, it is significantly structured by virtue of its fresh acidity and plentiful fine-grained tannins. Nicely dense in the middle and without any heat from its 14.5% alcohol, it goes on to conclude with good length. This impressive red blend should drink well for another decade or more. Drink now-2026.
