A beast and a gentleman. Powerful, ripe, peppery and full flavored but with an elegance I associate with the better Syrah areas in the upper Rhone, such as St. Joseph or Cote Rotie. Blackberry fruit and Syrah's savory side are in harmony, combining the effortless fruit of California with Rhone complexity. Great window for drinking likely the next 3-4 years. Cork in great shape at 10.

Confessing an admitted fondness for this producer, I was thrilled with how this bottle performed, as were the others who enjoyed it. Black and green pepper, crunchy red and black fruit, and a textured savoriness that pulled everything together seamlessly. Delicious stuff, and a great representation of a cold-climate Syrah. No rush whatsoever.

Deep purple color. Dark fruit, violets, and pepper on the nose. The palate features notes of blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, black currants, licorice, and pepper. Alcohol is medium plus, tannins are medium, acid is medium. Delicious stuff. Drink now - 2023.

(Tasted at the winery) Tight throughout its time in the glass, this will likely require at least another five years to open. But great potential. Funk in the bouquet with peaches and apricots that transition to blackberries, blueberries and slight campfire notes in the finish. Not so much tannic as tight. Drink 2023-2033. (= Worth Seeking Out)

Fruit forward, warm. Better before decanting.
