  • Fairly pale lemon color. Citrus and stone fruit on the nose, with perhaps a slight dried orange peel/oxidative note. Palate was green and yellow fruit, but also steely (without any minerality to make it okay). Conversation was around the choice of wording: why "unwooded" rather than "unoaked"? Overall, a reasonable, low-price example of Chardonnay without oak, but nothing remarkable about it.

  • Obviously settled and finished in something other than wood barrels or casks, this is what minimal manipulation can taste like. The overall profile has a minor, nutty, metallic taste that works. The flavors are linear, sharp and precise grapefruit, gooseberry, apricot pit, lemon and a bit of green garden. Native yeast fermentation brings a rustic earthy edge. Very crisp malic acid, tangerine and citrus finish.
