  • 13% alcohol. Diam5 closure. Pure light golden colour.
The nose is slightly restrained but delightful; there is pear and yellow plum, maybe even some quince, as well as floral aromas. Pretty complex, especially in view of the supposedly modest pedigree of the bottle, but none of the aromas are in your face, and indeed they need to be teased out. Just as good in the mouth, with just the right (ie minimal) level of fat and no oak perceived. Understated and all the better for it.
Very enjoyable and much better than the 2020 that I had recently, probably because of bottle age mostly.
    A repeat purchase.

  • 13% alcohol. Diam5 closure, very short and penetrated up to half way. Pale golden colour with a luminous quality.
The nose is somewhat faint at first but upon swirling it shows nice notes of gorse, verbena and yellow plum. The mouth has vg balance, being quite plush while displaying reasonable grip and well judged acidity; yellow plum again.
Interestingly, the first sip felt slightly sweet, coming just after a rather stern Savenniéres; just a sequence effect and another reason to pay no attention to bulk tasting.
A very well made wine in perfect condition. The Verget line remains relatively affordable whereas Guffens' own wines are now out of reach.
