Medium-plus purple. Ripe dark fruit aroma with a hint of spices. Medium body with medium-low tannins and long acidity. Fruity dry wine which will pair weel with pork.

Wow, this wine is awesome with pasta and red sauce. Especially a nice old world meat sauce, or with meatballs/sausage. Very much reminiscent of Chianti or other sangiovese blends, but with a bit more depth and complexity. Needs to be decanted and given time, like at least 45 minutes +. But it opens up with nice cherry and deep red fruit, some nice herbal notes and excellent acid as you would expect. This wine is done in a nice old world style, not overly extracted despite the hot climate of Sicily. Has a bit of earth and rusticity but still very nicely integrated. Nice balanced tannic grip in the finish which you want with hearty Italian fare, but again not over the top. This is exactly the type of wine I look for with pasta and am so often disappointed when I go with Chianti or even some of the popular reds from Campania. At this price its a no brainer.... 91+

This wine provided fruit in abundance with only moderate amounts of pepper and spice for balance. The fruit ranged from ripe strawberries and cherries to darker blackberry and plums – it even ventured into stewed or baked notes. Cassis, sweet spices, and pepper mixed with earth and stone on the savoury side. The moderate tannins and acidity provided a smooth mouthfeel. Normally I’d say this heavy lean towards fruitiness was a problem, but in this case (and for $16, no less), you’re getting exactly what you’re looking for. Was it deep, complex, or ageworthy? No, but it sure was enjoyable!

Joyfully simple Italian wine. The best I think we could find in the red checkered tablecloth kind of Italian restaurant with pseudo-Roman busts. It matched the restaurant. Fun but not sophisticated. Very drinkable and fruit-forward.

Nicely blended Italian table wine. No negative attributes. I went well with steak and barbecued pork.
