  • Preferred slightly more when younger, but still, a nice Washington blend.

  • Cassis, plum, raspberry jam, beet root, earth, and a little tobacco waft out of the glass. Blackberry, blueberry, cassis, earth, and finish of oak on the palate. Nice acidity, integrated tannins, medium body, medium-long, smooth, slightly oaky finish. Delicious. Overall, this was a surprisingly great bottle. It's opened up considerably since I tasted it years ago. There's a lot of pleasure to be had here to anyone except the oak adverse.

  • A solid effort, right-bank blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It needed 2-3 hours in the decanter to settle down, as it seemed a bit discombobulated at first. But once there, a good expressive nose emerged from the glass, featuring dusty notes of dark berries, damp earth, and graphite, with subtle hints of chocolate with additional time. It was all nicely integrated in the mouth, well concentrated, with suave fruit/mineral flavors in the mouth, followed by a buttery/oaky finish. In the morning the next day, it seemed a little dried-up and diluted. But oddly, in the early afternoon, it gained notable weight and overall improvement. A bit of an enigma, I would caution against long-term cellaring, but it seems like it could certainly improve with holding in the 5-8 year period. At $36 at the winery, I hope to acquire a few more bottles and consume over the medium-term.

  • A purely delicious Bourdeaux blend, and my favorite of the tasting lineup at the winery yesterday.
