  • This is all sour cherry, red currant, violets, some earthiness and barnyard funk. We drank it chilled, though I imagine you could drink it at room temperature. A lot of fun but this is certainly more than just a fun curiosity, this is an interesting and enjoyable wine, perfectly smashable on a summer afternoon but also exuding character and interest on each swirl and sip.

  • 750ml. I understand this is the second bottling of this wine, the previous being 500ml and with a greater amount of solids, ie. less filtration. I served the 500ml at a bar I work at, and I had to sort of shake it up before serving so there wasn't a glut of tartrates and lees at the bottom of the last glass. Much better served cold, I found.

This bottle is still cloudy, but has much less sediment. Very clean on the nose, with aromas wild strawberries, cherries, and stalky/grassy herbal notes. Very savoury and lean, quite inviting and intriguing at first.
The palate is a little astringent on opening but evolves nicely over time. Or maybe it just tastes better the colder it gets. The acidity sits nicely but the finish is a bit short. Interesting wine. Good summer red.

  • Not unpleasant, albeit with a note of crushed vine leaf and little complexity to speak of. Maybe I'm missing the point but at AUD$30 I'm feeling a little underwhelmed.
