Not produced after 2012? I haven't drunk Magpie in some time but this is worlds away from the stupid over-ripe wines of a decade + ago. As elegant as BV grenache can get? Surely helped by the age but the light touch is attractive - raspeberry fruits, soft prunes, a touch of zingy heat late in the palate. Drink now.

Colour: translucent cherry red, touch of brick red Nose: liqueured black cherries, cassis. Black Forest gateau. Cocoa, dark chocolate. Somewhat spirity. Touch of old oak. Palate: liqueured cherry, cassis, elderberry. Black Forest gateau? Lots of rich liqueured black berry fruit. Slightly spirity. Old oak. Fresh berry-like acidity. Medium grained, chunky, slightly drying tannins. Full bodied, rich, complex, with some tertiary character.

Pop and pour this one, lid back on each time too, at the end of its life. Enjoyable little food wine, but drink up now.
