  • An interesting random lone bottle auction purchase of many years and a good candidate for "open that bottle" night this evening with Beef Bourguignon. A good match, nicely mature with a reasonable amount of depth but lacking fireworks, perhaps not surprisingly. Glad I held it to now but no regrets about opening it this evening. Drink up if you have them.

(Frederic Esmonin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze) Medium red color; more narrowly focused tart red fruit with a touch of barnyard; tight, tighter than the Chambertin, tart cherry and rhubarb palate with sweet tannins; medium-plus finish
