(Nicholas Cole CAMILLE) Cole SPECIAL Dear Friends, I will be the first to admit I know nothing about this particular bottling and I don't have any time to research it. I’m running to a tasting of the best Luxembourg wines (don’t laugh - Lux is an untapped source of some terrific wine) so you will have to look around on your own. What I do know is that we get a huge number of requests for undiscovered domestic Cabernet or something like Phelps Insignia or their regular Cabernet and most of those requests fall on deaf ears because it is just not our cup of tea. Many domestic Cabernets can be so overpriced and overdone that I just can’t stand behind them. That brings us to this offer - a half-price opportunity on a Cabernet blend of some note. Nicholas Cole has received a lot of press in Washington State so it would seem like this is an opportunity to stock up on something that is usually far more expensive. I haven’t tasted the wine so I don’t know the style, but judging from the WA comments below, it’s just what many of you are looking for - big, tannic fruit that can age for a long time. (Nicholas Cole Cellars Camille) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really interesting; really nice nutmeg component; beautiful round, fresh raspberry; jammy & explosive; gorgeous hint of tar bubbles; TASTE-weird; wow, so interesting; this wine takes on of the biggest turns ever; initially a very delicious fruit (strawberry & cherry), but on the mid-palate it becomes really tight & tart; a really sour component ripping through my palate like a Tasmanian Devil; then spurts of milk & dark chocolate w/ a vegetable kick; heavy on the tannins; structured & backbone driven; very tannic & bitter finish (I like, but many wouldn't like this finish); WE-91; W&S-93; GV-90

Last holding from this producer. Opaque and between garnet and brick, orange tint at the rim. Its an unusual nose, always has been that way. Leads with tart rhubarb, vegetal notes, some cough syrup, damp earth. The front is red stewed fruits, cherry being among the more prominent; some beats, veggie. Its tart and a touch medicinal. The acidity is medium+ with griping tannins that leave a dry as a bone finish, that's still kicking. Its well aged, past its apogee, however still has something to offer and I'm enjoying it. I won't let this go the night, don't think it will make it over that finish line. I'll miss this bottle. No scoring.

Acquired at a friends wine cellar sale with fond memories of past Nicholas Cole wines. Fresh out of the bottle this wine just reinforced those memories. Unfortunately after about any time in the glass it lost its luster.

Nearly four years after my previous review, and this is still just as wonderful. Not noticing the mint note now that I caught then, but still getting some sour/vegetal richness on the nose. On the tongue it's almost like a rum & coke, with a splash of berry instead of lime. Great again with a nice piece of beef - this time, a London broil, very rare. Sad that this is my last bottle.

Started strong after a 1 hour decant with nice black fruit and a nice dried herb undertone. However, went a bit flat and one note over next couple hours. Suggest to drink now and not lollygag once it's open.

Similar to last note. Shared with friends who really liked it. It has aged well and quite balanced.
