The Week of Zinfandels: I was not aware this winery produced Zinfandel, but this was a pleasant discovery. Somewhat lighter than the other Zins tasted this week but with nice fruit tending more toward strawberry. Soft, rich, and plush.

This is a refreshing zinfandel - an exhibition of red fruits (raspberries, cherries, red-skin peaches) and clove-spice. Tasted this against the Hartford 2004 RRV Zin - a true study in contrasts. Hartford is rich, weighty and full of blackberries and dark fruits. This Dutton-Goldfield selection never gets tiresome to drink. This almost seems like a marriage of Pinot Noir sensibilities with prime old vine Zinfandel fruit. Lovely.

Hans Krueger Selections Part Deux (The Jug): Do these guys make any mediocre wine? After having their Pinots, Syrah, and Chards, and being completely WOWed, this Zin is quite nice as well. Bright blackberries, rhubarb, and plum on the nose. Jammy black fruits and berries with some sweet tannin. Great acidity and balance, with the alc. being in check. Great winery that is consistent.
