The 2013 Occam's Razor Shiraz is opaque deep purple in color with ruby variation near the rim. After opening up for an hour and a half, the wine showcases a nose of blackberry, juicy plum, blueberry, cassis, lavender, cigar box, wet gravelly soil, graphite, light baking spice, and toasted oak. Once on the palate, this displays notes of black plum, black cherry, redcurrant, black licorice, sweet tobacco, loamy earth, smoke, slate, black pepper, and chocolate. This is full-bodied with medium acidity, medium (+) somewhat chewy tannins, and a long finish dominated by black fruits and iron.
100% Shiraz (Syrah); 15% ABV
This is a great value.

Pretty impressive by itself right now. Great acid, and little to no pruniness. Can almost taste the accompanying filet... was shocked to read it was 15% ABV – very little heat. 91-92+

Still dense and opaque in the glass. Powerful, currant-y nose, which follows through on the palate, maybe just a hint of spice. Feels like this is still a little way from maturity. Tannin and (natural) acidity pretty well balanced but should soften with another 3 to 5 years. I liked it, but didn't love it.

Notes of chocolate and dark fruits. Dark opaque red, surprising for a cool climate Shiraz. Tannins are still rough and tight, need to decant for an hour at least. Drank it too young; Can age for another 5 years.
