Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 92.1 points

  • Previously tasted at the winery five years ago, this was my first from bottle and it has clearly improved in that time, beyond what I had expected. Mixed black and red cherry with balanced spice notes on the nose. Not as enormously aromatic as it was previously, but better defined. Medium bodied with an all blackfruit flavor profile of black cherry, blackberry and darker black cherry. Fine grained tannins, spices and tart black cherry through the back. Where this wine has improved most is in terms of balance such that the fruit and structural qualities have come together quite well, resulting in wine that feels much more expressive than previously. This wine is in a great spot currently with really pretty, well supported fruit. I have access to one more bottle and will plan to try that in November 2023.

  • Tasted at the winery. Massive nose with extremely aromatic blackfruit notes along with lots of spices. Medium bodied and all blackfruit upfront (black cherry and black berry) and more depth and concentration through the middle than the 2016. Spice notes, especially pepper towards the back, mixed with leather qualities. Lots of tannins and acidity on the back give this wine a structured feel, but at the same time these notes are well balanced by the upfront and mid-body fruit. The result being the wine comes off showing extremely good integration, but retaining more than enough structural elements to suggest additional future improvement is possible. This was the most concentrated and most distinctly blackfruit expression of Cabernet Franc I have tried from this vineyard site. Showing well now, but should be even better in early 2019.

  • So smooth! Dark fruit and oak on the nose. Yummy juicy dark berries and licorice. Such a smooth finish. I love it

  • A definite step up from the preceding wine. The more deeply pitched nose shows aromas of dark berries, oak, leather and a hint of herbs. This is medium bodied on the palate with very good concentration but a slight lack of finesse. The medium plus length finish features slightly rustic tannins.

  • This is a wine that is almost gulp-able it's delicious factor is off the charts. While it may not be wildly complex it is very VERY easy to love. Vibrant fruit, the tell-tale signs of light bell pepper on the nose and vibrant notes of boysenberry & blueberry on the palate. The bottle from start to finish did not last 2 hours...Excellent
