  • Similar tasting notes from my first bottle of this in April.....except that it tastes more balanced and knit together, the fruit and herbal textures with backbone of coffee are great complements to lamb and pork.

  • Well....A new experience .
    100 % Carignan...from Chile no less.
This varietal is more commonly found as a blending grape in the south of France( ie: Languedoc) where it gives acidic backbone to softer sweeter Grenache.
On nose:damp earth, coffee and blueberries.
On palate: a follow through of the above with hints of thyme , cumin , fresh beets and a hint of of beef blood.
Clearly a " geek " wine.....as it warms up it developes an edge of tart strawberry.....now 8 years old this medium bodied wine is not for everybody.....but hey....I like it!
A good foil for herbed pork roast or steak.....give it a try....reasonably priced at $19.00 Canadian.
