  • We enjoyed this tonight with dinner at Red Hills Kitchen at Atticus Hotel in McMinnville, Oregon. Cork appears to be composite, no bleed. Maybe this was recorked? Or bottled recently? In great shape for a 36 year old Pinot Noir. But very subdued, even after being opened for an hour. No way is this a 97 point wine. Nice structure, nice balance, but not a lot of fruit, and none of the honey or barnyard you would find in a great red Burgundy of this age. So points for holding up this long, but was probably better a few decades ago.

  • The oldest Pinot I've had, let alone from Oregon. Light garnet with traces of orange fanning out to the rim. Nose is so alive and complex as it takes on air, starting first with light red berries, charcuterie, mushroom, wet forest floor; with air becomes more savory, some soy sauce, brussel sprout, trace of smoke.

Nice core of sticky berry fruit still in this at first, and a lot of acidity, first impression is it's quite sharp. Becomes more mineral into the close. The finish isn't intense but lingers. Followed over 6 hours with no noticeable change on the palate.

Agree with prior comment that more acidity dominated at this stage, but certainly still alive. A really great bottle to be able to have for my 1,000 TN on CT.

  • New Years with the Ks and Browns: The nose on this was stellar; still fresh red fruits, forest floor, mushroom, dried violet, a hint of orange peel and black tea leaves. The palate was good, but seemed a bit thin as the acidity poked out to the fore. This was mitigated with food and still overall was very enjoyable, but the palate didn't quite live up to the nose

  • This is fully mature, no reason to wait any longer. Incredible wine start to finish. The best I have had for domestic pinot noir!

  • Tasting at Eyrie (McMinnville, Oregon): Winery tasting. This is an insanely good Pinot that matches my experienced of what aged Eyrie can offer. Nose is full with endless depth -- aged cherry, mushroom, decaying earth, old leather and smoke. The palate is similarly deep and intense. Acids are still fresh and bright. Flavors echo the nose. Long and so persistent. Epic!
