JJ Prum - 2014 range tasting with Katharina Prum: Pineapple, mandarin, musk and peach with a light popcorn note. Lovely balance, very delicate mouth-feel and cleansing acidity. Probably not quite up to the other Auslese in terms of intensity and depth, but still very good.

2014 JJ Prum Horizontal (Chicago, IL): Nose: The nose is fresh and balanced, but it starts off with an herbal tinge to it along with green apples, snow peas, pears, and mineral tones.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity is slightly astringent and the feel thins out somewhat on the mid-palate. There is a lightness on it's feet with tones of herbs, green apples, pears, and mineral tones.
Overall: This is a good Auslese. It doesn't posses the weight that an Auslese normally would and there is a slight green note. This doesn't feel like it would be a long-term candidate for aging and should be enjoyed now and over the mid-term.

2014 Joh. Jos. Prüm (Chicago, IL): #15-15, 8% abv. A surprisingly high amount of greenness permeates this wine. I'm almost of the belief that this is a tad underripe. Given the sweetness levels, this could easily pass for a Spätlese from a riper year (what with Prädikat-creep and all that). There's not much particularly interesting going on with the palate either, as if the grapes weren't quite able to develop much more than the basics.
