Nose is starting to show secondary characteristics. Still has plenty of fruit including cherries but finishes slightly hot. It's not a value QPR by any means but it's interesting. I still would prefer a good Brunello at Staglin's release price but this was made by Andy Erickson, winemaker at Screaming Eagle...pretty cool!

Over the years, I've bought the Staglin sangiovese almost as an after thought along with the rest of my allotment. What a mistake! My wife and I couldn't stop raving about this wine. We paired it with real South Philly Italian (leftovers). The fruit explodes out of the glass, but it's not obnoxious. It's more money than I would typically spend for a chianti, but at least for tonight it was worth it.

This was an amazing bottle of wine. Great age and the taste was smooth, beautiful and amazing. The fruit was right on, good alone or with food.

From a magnum. Opened two hours early, no decant. Still a nice wine, but starting to fade. I wouldn't hold much longer.

Same as prior note! Last bottle in 750 format. Still has a few years to drink.
